Angela Rayner has responded to criticism regarding her management of a recent meeting with families affected by the Grenfell Tower fire, which some participants labeled as a “disaster.”
During the discussion held on Wednesday, the deputy prime minister announced that the 24-story structure would be gradually taken down, nearly eight years after the fire that claimed the lives of 72 individuals.
The announcement elicited a variety of reactions from those who have been impacted by the tragedy, following extensive discussions about the tower’s future.
In an interview on BBC’s Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg, Rayner expressed that she did not perceive her approach during the meeting as “aggressive,” adding, “If anyone was left with that impression, I would be truly saddened by it.”
