Authorities are eager to find a taxi driver who might have captured footage of a 75-year-old woman, Pepita Sakirecili—also known as Pepita Garcia—struggling with construction materials shortly before she was discovered deceased in her residence.
On January 13, police gained entry to her home in Tottenham, north London, after receiving a welfare call from the ambulance service.
It is believed that Ms. Sakirecili passed away sometime before Christmas, although the exact cause of death remains undetermined.
A 40-year-old man from Reynardson Road, Tottenham, faces charges related to obstructing a lawful burial.
Detective Inspector Barry Hart from the Metropolitan Police expressed his desire to “construct a narrative” surrounding the events.
“I am particularly eager to locate a taxi driver who transported Pepita to her address on Reynardson Road in August 2024 and witnessed her difficulties while trying to manage plywood and other construction materials,” he stated.
“We suspect the driver may have been concerned for her safety and possibly recorded footage of her on their phone.”
Det Insp Hart urged anyone who knew Ms. Sakirecili and could shed light on her life to reach out. He also requested that anyone with mobile phone or dashcam recordings taken on Reynardson Road between October 16 and January 31 contact the police.
