The president of the VTB United League, **[Sergey Kushchenko](https://www.championat.com/video/278086-bruklin-pokazal-video-v-chest-egora-dyomina/)**, shared his thoughts on the prospects of Russian basketball players currently playing abroad, including in the United States.
“When our young and talented athletes move to global basketball programs, they receive a significantly different level of training. Just look at how many promising players have gone to various academies this season. Take **[Egor Dyomin](https://www.championat.com/video/278086-bruklin-pokazal-video-v-chest-egora-dyomina/)**, for example—his journey deserves special attention. It’s worth seeing how this talent has flourished through hard work. A Russian guy traveled from ‘Trintu’ to ‘Real’ Madrid and to the NCAA, and now he’s the eighth pick in the draft. Naturally, we keep an eye on such stories.
Global academies and institutes nurture young players in competitive settings. When our prospects land spots on major teams like ‘Real,’ the level they experience is vastly different. Some will thrive, while others may not, but the VTB League is always open to them. I believe European clubs could be interested in them as well, though there are limitations on foreign players, which restricts opportunities in local leagues. Nonetheless, it’s great that Russian players are exploring new opportunities outside of Russia. This provides them with quality training, and we hope they will return to the VTB League as accomplished basketball players,” Kushchenko remarked during a conversation with Championship correspondent Arina Ershova.
