Alyona Kostornaia Shares Rare Quad Toss Training Video in Pair Skating

Russian figure skater Alena Kostornaia shared a video on her Telegram channel demonstrating her training of a rare and highly difficult element in pair skating — the quadruple throw — using a special harness.

Currently, the quadruple throw is only performed at national competitions by the three-time Russian champions Alexandr Boykov and Dmitry Kozlovskiy.

At 22 years old, Kostornaia is the 2020 European champion, the 2019 Grand Prix Final winner, and has achieved multiple podium finishes in Grand Prix events. She was the first female single skater in history to score over 85 points in a short program at international competitions. Most of her achievements have come in the singles category. In early 2023, it was revealed that Kostornaia had transitioned to pair skating, teaming up with Georgiy Kunitsa.

Kostornaia married Kunitsa in the summer of 2023, and in the spring of 2025, the couple announced they were expecting a child. Last September, they welcomed their son, Dmitry.

Previously, the skaters expressed their intention to resume their athletic careers after the birth of their child.
