Kafelnikov Comments on Battle of the Sexes: Uncertain Impact on Tennis Popularity

Olympic tennis champion and former world number one, **Evgeny Kafelnikov**, shared his thoughts on the “Battle of the Sexes” event that took place at the end of December between WTA ranking leader from Belarus, **Aryna Sabalenka**, and Australian player **Nick Kyrgios**.

“I’ll be honest; I didn’t watch it. I know the outcome—Kyrgios won. It was interesting to see that a large number of celebrities attended the event. I personally didn’t see it, and I can only catch glimpses of it through social media. When you check, you’ll find Cristiano Ronaldo and Khabib were both part of the event. I don’t have a clear understanding of how this affected the popularity of tennis—whether it’s a positive or negative impact. I just haven’t formed a solid opinion on this event,” Kafelnikov stated on the **First&Red** channel.
