The publication Variety interviewed acclaimed filmmaker Frank Darabont, known for his iconic works “The Shawshank Redemption” and “The Green Mile.” He shared his thoughts on returning to directing for the fifth season of the series “Stranger Things.”

The renowned director revealed that he was a fan of the supernatural series long before he was invited to be part of the final season’s crew. He had the opportunity to meet with the Duffer brothers to express his gratitude for the show, and shortly after, they extended an invitation for him to direct two episodes. Darabont expressed his appreciation to the show’s creators for granting him such an opportunity.

Frank Darabont directed the third and fifth episodes of the fifth season, marking his first directorial venture since the 2013 series “Mob City.” Initially, the episodes were set to be directed by Dan Trachtenberg, but he was occupied with the production of the film “Predator: Planet of Death.”
