A man has been brought before the court on charges of murdering a woman whose body was discovered at a residence in south London.
James Flanagan, 53, was taken into custody at the location after police were summoned to a property on Rodney Road in North Walworth on Sunday afternoon due to concerns regarding a woman’s safety, as reported by the Metropolitan Police.
Upon arrival, officers found 58-year-old Julie Wilson deceased. Her family is receiving support from specialized officers, according to the Met.
Flanagan, a resident of Stead Street in North Walworth, was formally charged with murder on Wednesday. He appeared at Croydon Magistrates’ Court the following day, where he was remanded in custody. He is scheduled to appear at the Old Bailey on Monday.
Detective Inspector Mark Franklin expressed that the thoughts of the officers remain with Ms. Wilson’s family and friends.
“Although a man has been charged, our investigation remains ongoing, and we encourage anyone who has not yet come forward with information to do so,” he stated.
