Spotlight on Londons Architectural Innovation: 78 Projects Vie for RIBA Awards 2025

A boys’ secondary school located in Islington and the Royal College of Music are among the over 70 contenders selected for prestigious architectural awards.

The 78 projects recognized for the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) London Awards 2025 also feature notable landmarks such as the Elizabeth Tower at the House of Commons, Tower Hamlets Town Hall, and the London College of Fashion.

All shortlisted entries will be assessed by a regional jury, with the winners to be revealed this spring.

John Nahar, the regional director for RIBA in London, remarked that the shortlisted works collectively “reflect and honor the city’s rich cultural diversity, fostering inclusive and sustainable communities.”

He further emphasized that each of these initiatives not only enhances the physical landscape but also uplifts the quality of life for everyone residing, working, and studying in the area.

RIBA has been hosting its awards since 1966, and the winners will be in line for various special accolades before being eligible for the National Award, which will be announced in the summer.

The shortlist for the RIBA Stirling Prize, awarded for the UK’s finest new building, will be compiled from the National Award-winning projects and revealed in September.

The recipient of the Stirling Prize, regarded as the UK’s most esteemed award in architecture, will be announced in October.
