A police officer from the Metropolitan Police has been found guilty of rape.
PC Samuel McGregor, aged 33, was convicted of raping a woman at a location in London on May 11, 2021, following a trial at the Inner London Crown Court, as reported by Scotland Yard.
McGregor, who was previously a member of the central north command unit, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Chief Superintendent Andy Carter expressed his disgust at McGregor’s “appalling conduct” and the suffering inflicted on the victim after the verdict was announced on Friday.
Carter emphasized that individuals like McGregor have “no place” within the police force and committed to eliminating such “despicable individuals.”
Following a report made to the police on June 2, 2021, McGregor was arrested the next day.
He was suspended from his duties on March 3, 2022, after he confessed to having lied during a police interview.
A misconduct hearing is forthcoming, and his sentencing is set for March 10.
