Police Officer Hospitalized After Being Struck by Vehicle During Pursuit of Domestic Assault Suspect in Bexleyheath

In Bexleyheath, located in southeast London, a police officer has sustained significant injuries after being struck by a vehicle during a pursuit of a man believed to have assaulted a woman.

The officer initiated a response following worries about the woman’s safety on Mayplace Road West around 12:00 GMT.

It has been clarified that the vehicle involved was not connected to the suspected assault, and the driver is reported to have stopped to offer assistance to the police.

The officer has been transported to the hospital, where he is receiving treatment for serious injuries, according to the Metropolitan Police.

Additionally, a man has been detained near Bexleyheath Police Station on suspicion of committing domestic common assault.

As a result, road closures are still in effect in the area.
