Met Police Chief Slams Ineffective Spending on Undismissable Officers as Taxpayer Costs Soar

Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley has expressed that it is an “absurd misuse of taxpayer funds” to pay officers who cannot be terminated to remain at home.

On Tuesday, the High Court determined that the police force lacked the authority to dismiss officers who did not pass their vetting process, a background evaluation aimed at identifying individuals unfit for service.

Sir Mark indicated that those who cannot be dismissed will be placed on special leave, receiving their full salary, which could lead to expenses totaling “millions of pounds,” depending on “the duration of this situation.”

“They will not be on the streets patrolling, nor will they respond to your calls,” stated Sir Mark, who oversees the largest police force in the UK.
