A man has been convicted of plotting a robbery following the theft of £1.38 million worth of watches from a jewelry shop in south-west London.
Mannix Pedro, 37, was “intimately involved in the strategy and implementation” of the heist at 247 Kettles in Richmond on May 25 last year, as reported by Woolwich Crown Court.
The store’s office manager, Oliver White, 27, tragically took his own life the day after the incident, which jurors have been informed was “directly linked” to the robbery.
After over 23 hours of consideration, the jury found Pedro, a resident of Woking in Surrey, guilty. A co-defendant, Junior Kunu, 30, from Mitcham in south-west London, is still undergoing trial on the same charges.
Prosecutors contended that while Pedro did not enter the shop during the heist, he orchestrated the use of a stolen Audi as one of two getaway vehicles.
The jury was informed that none of the stolen watches have been recovered, and the business had no insurance coverage, despite previously being targeted in a theft three years prior.
Mr. Kunu’s trial is set to continue on Friday.
