Authorities investigating the murder of a senior banking executive discovered deceased in her southeast London residence are exploring the possibility that the suspect may have fled the country.
On Friday evening, Marianne Kilonzi was found brutally beaten in her Woolwich apartment, as reported by the Metropolitan Police.
An autopsy determined that her death was due to blunt-force trauma and a head injury.
The 43-year-old, who held the position of vice president at the prominent financial institution Citibank, is thought to have had an acquaintance with her assailant, according to the police, who noted that the potential international escape of the suspect is one avenue of their investigation.
Officials have stated that no information regarding the suspect would be disclosed.
Police responded to Ms. Kilonzi’s apartment after receiving alerts expressing concerns for her well-being.
On Tuesday, Detective Chief Inspector Suzanne Soren, who is overseeing the murder case, commented: “We believe the individual responsible was familiar to Marianne, and there is no broader threat to the community.”
“This is an incredibly tragic incident, and our heartfelt condolences go out to Marianne’s loved ones and colleagues during this difficult time.”
Citibank released a statement expressing: “We are profoundly saddened by the loss of our colleague. Our thoughts are with Marianne’s family and friends as they navigate this challenging period.”
