A man’s death, which occurred weeks after he allegedly fell down an escalator at London’s Waterloo station, has led to a police request for witnesses to come forward.
Ian Airlie, 48, was discovered deceased at his residence in Greenwich, south-east London, on 10 October of the previous year.
Following his passing, his relatives informed the Metropolitan Police that he had claimed he had been pushed down the escalator of the Jubilee line several weeks prior.
Authorities are particularly interested in hearing from a woman whom he reportedly fell upon as well as another woman he interacted with during a bus journey home.
The reported incident is believed to have taken place shortly after 17:00 BST on 15 September.
A post-mortem examination conducted on 29 October did not yield conclusive results, and further analyses are pending.
A spokesperson for the Met mentioned that the woman Mr. Airlie is thought to have collided with had a south Asian appearance and also fell during the incident.
Moreover, Mr. Airlie is believed to have had a conversation with a woman on a bus coming from North Greenwich underground station, who provided him with a tissue for a wound above his eye.
At that moment, he was dressed in a black t-shirt and light grey jogging pants, carrying a turquoise and grey Mountain Warehouse backpack along with a medium-sized black suitcase.
Detective Inspector Chris Rogers stated, “Mr. Airlie’s death is heartbreaking, and his family is still mourning the loss of a devoted son, partner, brother, and uncle.
“We are committed to uncovering the details surrounding this tragedy and providing Mr. Airlie’s family with the answers they seek. Your information could significantly aid us.”
He emphasized, “Even if it appears minor, the detail you provide could be crucial to advancing our investigation.”
