Headline: Community Unites After Stratford Mosque Vandalism: A Call for Solidarity Against Hate Crimes

A mosque in East London has reportedly been vandalized in what authorities are treating as a suspected hate crime, according to the Metropolitan Police.

BBC London has learned that the mosque located on Brydges Road in Stratford was marked with graffiti, which has since been cleaned off.

The police believe the “racially or religiously aggravated criminal damage” took place overnight on Wednesday. They noted that the incident was reported on Thursday morning, and investigations are currently underway with no arrests made at this time.

In a message posted on X, the Newham Muslim Forum expressed gratitude to both the police and the local council for their prompt response to the “hateful attack on the mosque in Stratford last night”.

The group described the event as a “wake-up call” and urged politicians to take action against “dangerous, divisive rhetoric that targets Muslims and ethnic minorities”.

Additionally, they shared a poster promoting “communities standing together in solidarity” and announced a gathering scheduled for Friday at 18:00 GMT on Brydges Road.
