A man has been charged after three teenage girls came forward with allegations of sexual assault near Clapham Common.
John Nyhan, a 22-year-old resident of Wandsworth, was taken into custody on Wednesday by Metropolitan Police officers who are looking into incidents of sexual assault involving young females in the vicinity of the south London park.
The incidents, which involve two girls aged 14 and one aged 15, occurred on January 8, January 23, and February 4, as reported by the Met Police.
In addition to three charges of sexual assault, Mr. Nyhan faces accusations of harassment against a 13-year-old girl connected to an event that took place on Stormont Road in Clapham on January 23. He is scheduled to appear at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court later today.
Detective Chief Inspector Amanda Prince characterized the occurrences as “deeply concerning and distressing” and commended the three girls for their bravery in reaching out to the authorities.
