Piccadilly Circus

Piccadilly Circus ist eine Straßenkreuzung und ein öffentlicher Platz im Londoner West End. Er wurde 1819 fertiggestellt, um die Regent Street mit der Piccadilly zu verbinden. Im architektonischen Sinn ist ein „Circus“ eine runde, öffentliche Fläche an einer Straßenkreuzung bzw. eine Art Kreisverkehr, jedoch ohne eine gebaute Mittelinsel. Während der Zeit der Kolonisation und des großen „British Empire“ wurde Piccadilly Circus oft als „Mittelpunkt der Welt“ bezeichnet.
