Starting in 2025, British Airways, the national airline of the United Kingdom, will be entering the aviation market in Georgia. This comes after successful negotiations between the Union of Georgian Airports and one of Europe’s largest airlines. As a result, direct air routes will connect the capitals of Great Britain and Georgia.
From March 30, 2025, there will be four regular flights per week from London to Tbilisi and vice versa. Tickets for these flights can already be purchased through the airline’s website at www.ba.com.
British Airways is a well-established brand with over 100 years of history in operating as an airline. The company is also a co-founder of OneWorld, which is a global airline alliance that includes American Airlines. This close partnership allows passengers to enjoy connecting flights through London to various cities in the United States. With flights to more than 190 destinations across 65 countries, British Airways operates primarily out of London Heathrow Airport.
The decision for British Airways to re-enter the Georgian market comes after an announcement made by its Tbilisi office back in March 22, 2004 about pulling out from the country due to disputes with Georgian Civil Aviation Authorities.
The Georgian side cited reasons for cancellation including unpaid taxes and legal disputes with Airzena – Georgia’s flagship carrier – however–in spite of this setback–the country is thrilled to welcome back British Airways!
Overall this marks an exciting new chapter for both British Airways as it enters into partnership with Georgian Airlines marking much anticipated progress toward mutual economic growth!
