European Basketball Champion Takes the Helm of Russian Amateur Team

European basketball champion with the Russian national team, **[Anton Ponkrashov](https://www.championat.com/video/274480-egor-dyomin-beryot-intervyu-u-yunyh-amerikanskih-basketbolistov/)**, has been appointed as the head coach of the media team Dawgs. This was announced by the team’s **[press service](https://t.me/dawgs_moscow)**.

“Anton Ponkrashov is the head coach of DAWGS. He still has more to share. ⟨…⟩ A journey that could easily be adapted for the screen. And we will start this journey together! Welcome aboard, coach,” reads the team’s statement.
It was previously reported that the athlete would also serve as a player-coach.

In addition to winning gold at the 2017 European Championship, Ponkrashov has a bronze medal from EuroBasket 2011 and another bronze from the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Last season, he played for Dynamo from Vladivostok.
