London's New Tube Trains Have Been Spotted In Action

New trains destined for use on the London Underground have been noticed in motion… in Austria.

The ‘New Tube for London’ is a futuristic mannequin of practice being constructed, initially for the Piccadilly line. TfL has 94 on order from Siemens Mobility Ltd, 50% of that are being in-built Goole, North Yorkshire, the opposite 50% are being constructed in Vienna — and these are those which have been noticed ‘within the wild’ in current days.

Images of the smooth carriages, full with TfL roundel and pink, white and blue livery, have been posted on Twitter by varied customers — together with Secrets and techniques of the Underground presenter Tim Dunn, who noticed the pics on Reddit:

(Be aware that though it was initially acknowledged the photographs have been taken in Germany, it was later confirmed that they have been snapped at a railway yard in St Pölten, Austria, near Siemens’ manufacturing facility).

A reminder of what we have got to stay up for: improved accessibility together with wider doorways and walk-through carriages; air con; and a ten% improve in capability in comparison with present Piccadilly line inventory (which has been round since 1973, FYI).

So, when will we get to journey these beauties? TfL is anticipating them to be in service on the Piccadilly line in 2025. They might properly be rolled out onto the opposite deep-level strains (Bakerloo, Central and Waterloo & Metropolis) after that. Within the meantime, we’ll be gazing within the common path of Austria, with a glance of pining in our eyes.
